Mike has been working with inner processes for more than thirty years and this, together with his background in education and psychotherapy, serve as important cornerstones to his teaching programmes.

He is also a transpersonal psychology practitioner, with extensive training and experience in the field spanning more than twenty years, which includes a transpersonal psychotherapy training with two of the founders of transpersonal psychology in the UK: Ian Gordon-Brown and Barbara Somers. He has a longstanding interest in the evolution and practical application of transpersonal psychologies, and his thinking and practice is also informed by an ongoing interest and training in the related fields of Jungian psychology, ecopsychology and the contemplative traditions both East and West. He has taught in a range of settings both in the UK and sometimes farther afield.

His therapeutic practice is primarily with individuals, although he occasionally facilitates dream groups in Edinburgh and the Scottish Borders. Alongside this he practises as a consultant/supervisor.

He is also co-founder of Edinburgh Therapists' Forum, and past convernor for the Guild of Pastoral Psychology in Scotland, as well as former Chair of the UK Association of Humanistic Psychology Practitioners.
